In «The Queen of Spades» of Grodno regional puppet theatre the motives of the story and the opera are mixed together, but the director Oleg Zhiugzhda avoids a potentially disputable situation smartly and with great humor, without infringing on the libretto. Alexander Pushkin and Pyotr Tchaikovsky become heroes of the performance themselves, and it transforms into a peculiar duel between the writer and the composer. The confrontation of famous works turns into a parallel dramatic conflict of the performance.
